How do I book an appointment?

To book a tattoo, please complete the Tattoo Request Form. The form is required for all tattoo inquiries and consultations — it gives me the information needed to evaluate your project, placement, references, timeline, and overall fit. Tattoo appointments cannot be booked through Instagram DMs. For general questions unrelated to booking, you're welcome to email juli.tattooing@gmail.com. After reviewing your submission, I'll get back to you with next steps. Depending on the project's complexity, a consultation may be required first.

Do I need a consultation?

Consultations are available only after submitting a request form, and are for active project development — not introductory meetings. They run 45 minutes and may include: concept development and artistic direction; placement and body-flow planning; composition development; project timeline and session estimates; preliminary sketches and visual exploration; questions, recommendations, and technical considerations The consultation fee is $238 + tax, paid in full at booking — non-refundable, non-transferable, valid for 3 months. If we proceed together, it's credited toward your final session. I recommend requesting at least one month before your preferred date. I reserve the right to decline projects that don't align with my style, values, availability, or expertise.

What is your rate?

My current booking rate is full sessions only — $1980 + tax. A deposit of $600 + tax is paid after confirming the date, design, and session, and is included in the full price (see Policies for deposit details). A full session runs 12:00–6:00 PM (≈ $280 + tax per hour, though booked by full session, not hourly). Off-day bookings carry a 20% off-day fee. Larger projects may require one or multiple sessions and are quoted individually by the number of sessions.

When will I see the design?

Your design, or key prepared elements, is presented on the day of your appointment, based on your request form and references. I combine prepared elements with freehand drawing directly on the skin so the composition fits your anatomy, movement, and placement. We begin only once you're happy, and adjustments can be made before tattooing starts.

How does a session work?

Every booking is a full day — unhurried, collaborative, and built around your comfort. Here's how it unfolds: Arrival & consent — a quick health and consent form so the space is safe and personalized.; Skin prep — I shave, cleanse, and prepare the area while we review the design together.; Design check-in — we adjust details, size, and placement. It's always a co-creation; your input matters.; Stencil or freehand — stencil, freehand, or both, whatever flows best with your body.; Tattooing — focused intervals with short breaks every ~1.5 hrs and a lunch break, to keep energy balanced.; Reveal & aftercare — we review in the mirror, soothe and wrap the area, and you leave with full healing instructions. Sessions run 12:00–6:00 PM. Keep your evening free until ~8 PM in case we need more time.

What payment methods do you accept?

For the remaining balance after your deposit, I currently accept e-transfer or cash.

How many sessions will my tattoo take?

It depends on size, placement, complexity, and detail — each piece is unique, so the final number is determined individually. A rough guide by area: Half sleeve (arm): 2–4 sessions; Full sleeve (arm): 4–8 sessions; Half leg: 3–5 sessions; Full leg: 6–10 sessions; Back piece: 4–8 sessions Any placements not listed are discussed before booking.

How should I prepare for my session?

1 week before: Hydrate well and moisturize the area daily.; Avoid sun, tanning, pools, saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts before and during healing.; Avoid alcohol, caffeine, recreational drugs, and blood thinners (e.g. Advil/Ibuprofen) for 3 days before & after, unless medically necessary.; Don't arrive sick or sleep-deprived. Before arriving: Get good sleep and eat a proper full meal.; Arrive clean / showered; shave the area the morning of the session.; No numbing cream unless discussed beforehand.; Tell me about allergies, skin conditions, or medications beforehand. What to bring: Water, electrolytes, snacks, and a full meal.; Dark, comfortable clothes with easy access to the area.; Sunglasses, headphones, charger, or entertainment.; Pillow, blanket, or comfort items if desired. Lunch is usually around 2:30–3 PM. Let me know within 72 hours before your appointment if you feel unwell, start new medication, or have skin irritation, so we can reschedule.

Where are you located?

Vancouver — La Maison Tattoo Studio, 369 Carrall St, 3rd Fl, BC V6B 2J4. Parking: 98 W Pender St · 165 E Pender St · International Village / Tinseltown. Transit: Stadium–Chinatown SkyTrain. Street parking is limited and traffic can be heavy — pay until at least 8 PM and plan arrival in advance. Outside the Vancouver area? You'll be placed on a waitlist — and I make guest appearances in other cities, too.

Do you do cover-ups or work with scars?

I don't specialize in standard cover-ups or same-size corrections. I do selectively accept transformation projects, where a small existing tattoo or scar is incorporated into a larger custom composition designed for your body — a stronger long-term result than simply hiding the old piece. Certain scar projects are accepted after review, depending on the scar's age, healing, texture, placement, and skin condition. Scars usually need to be fully healed first; a consultation and clear photos may be required.

Can I use numbing cream?

Accepted Answer

I don't work with numbing creams: the effect is temporary (and pain can feel sharper as it wears off), it changes the skin's structure (poorer ink retention, more touch-ups), and it can cause reactions like chemical burns or irritation. To reduce sensitivity naturally: get a full night's sleep, eat a proper meal beforehand, bring a snack for longer sessions, avoid caffeine and alcohol, and stay hydrated.

Can I get a tattoo if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

I strongly advise against tattooing during pregnancy or while nursing. The process adds stress to your body, and proper healing depends on your immune response and recovery. If you're unsure, please consult your healthcare provider first — your health and safety come first.

What safety & sterilization methods do you use?

Client safety, cleanliness, and healing quality are always a top priority. Studio disinfectant is medical-grade CaviCide. Workstations and equipment are thoroughly disinfected before and after each session, per BC health regulations.; Medical-grade disinfectants and disposable barrier systems are used throughout.; All needles/cartridges are sterile, single-use, opened in front of you, and safely disposed of after.; Cartridge needles have protective safety membranes to help prevent cross-contamination.; Machines, cords, bottles, lamps, trays, armrests, and contact surfaces are fully barrier-protected for every client.; The workstation is individually prepared before each appointment.; Gloves are changed throughout the session as needed.; I use professional-quality inks, materials, and equipment following modern safety standards.
